enrichment

At Kids Connection, we feel that an integral part of quality education comes from exposing students to enrichment opportunities. We strive to offer after school classes that not only teach children a new skill or concept, but also encourage them to learn in new and different ways.

All of our enrolled students participate in physical education and perceptual motor training classes, enhance their computer skills in our state-of-the art computer lab, and grow in our formalized music program.  Starting in first grade, students enjoy our Spanish language program which also introduces Latin culture, history and traditions.

Health & Fitness (Physical Education)

Our Health & Fitness program is designed to foster a lifelong appreciation for physical activity and well-being. Through engaging activities, students build their knowledge of fitness fundamentals, including cardiovascular health, muscular strength, flexibility, and both gross and fine motor skills. The program emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and the value of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Activities include game play, cooperative challenges, and an introduction to essential nutrition concepts. We believe that a well-rounded education includes teaching students to care for both their bodies and minds. Elementary students have Health & Fitness two times per week.

Computers & Makerspace

In our state-of-the-art computer lab, students develop essential digital skills while exploring computer science concepts in creative and engaging ways. Through hands-on projects, they build confidence in using technology responsibly and become innovative problem solvers. Students gain experience with high-quality software such as Microsoft Office, iMovie, Kid Pix, and web-based programs like BrainPOP, Scratch, Alice, and code.org.

Our lab is equipped with iMacs, iPads, laptops, and interactive whiteboard technology, giving students the opportunity to work on diverse platforms and devices. They also gain hands-on experience in building circuits and developing foundational coding and engineering skills. Elementary students attend Computers & Makerspace once a week.

A highlight of the program is our Spring Makerspace Unit, where the lab is transformed into a dynamic, hands-on creation zone. Students rotate through a variety of open-ended stations that challenge them to use the skills they’ve developed throughout the year. This student-directed unit encourages exploration, creativity, and problem-solving. Stations vary each year but often include disassembling old computers, robotics and circuitry, 3D printing, CAD drawing, sewing with machines, and much more. It’s a favorite among students and a true celebration of innovation and imagination.

Music & Movement

Music is an integral part of our curriculum, with a formalized music program led by a dedicated music specialist. Students participate in choral singing, learn to read music, and gain an appreciation for various musical styles and instruments. Our weekly classes blend music theory, performance skills, and movement, fostering confidence and creativity. Elementary students have Music & Movement twice a week. A highlight of our music program is the opportunity for students to perform in two annual shows: the Holiday Showcase and the Spring Sing. These performances give students valuable experience on stage, building their confidence and presence while sharing their musical achievements with family and friends.

World Language

SPANISH:
Our Spanish program introduces students to the Spanish language through immersive, conversational lessons. Students develop listening, speaking, and comprehension skills while also exploring Latin culture, traditions, and history. Our goal is to build a strong foundation in conversational Spanish, preparing students to communicate confidently and with cultural awareness. In addition to regular classes, we offer enrichment opportunities in various world languages to broaden linguistic and cultural horizons. Elementary students have Spanish class once a week.

MANDARIN (Extended Day Only):

Mandarin is offered as part of our Extended Day program, giving students the opportunity to broaden their exposure to world languages beyond the school day. Classes are separated by level—from beginning learners to advanced and native speakers—and focus on building vocabulary, developing conversation skills, and exploring Chinese culture through engaging, age-appropriate activities. The program supports students in gaining confidence, cultural awareness, and a strong foundation for continued language learning.

Science

We’re excited to include Science as a core part of our specialist rotation. With a dedicated Science Classroom and curriculum that thoughtfully builds across all grade levels, students will dive into hands-on, inquiry-based learning that brings scientific concepts to life. Our science program is more than just experiments—it’s a dynamic space where curiosity is sparked, ideas are tested, and connections are made. Students will engage in meaningful investigations, collaborate with peers, document their thinking through writing, and apply STEM skills in real-world contexts. Whether they’re exploring ecosystems, building models, or analyzing data, science becomes a subject where students learn by doing—and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.
